A man has been jailed for killing a 66-year-old father of three who died after being attacked outside a Hull bar.

Eduardo Delgado died in hospital nine days after the assault outside the Tam Tam Café Bar on Anlaby Road on 9 July.

Michael Bangura, 43, punched and kicked Mr Delgado who fell backwards and suffered a head injury, police said.

Bangura was jailed for nine years after pleading guilty to manslaughter at Hull Crown Court.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said Mr Delgado was questioning the need for a search by the bar's door staff when Bangura came out of the venue, punched him and threw him to the floor.

As Mr Delgado tried to get up, Bangura kicked him in the face so he fell backwards and hit his head on the floor.

A post-mortem examination found that Mr Delgado had suffered a brain injury and cardiac arrest as well as a fractured nose and cheekbone.

Bangura, of Redfern Close, Hull, was initially charged with murder but a plea of guilty to manslaughter was accepted by the prosecution.

Det Ch Insp Mick Keech said: "Eddie's death was a tragedy and a devastating loss for his family.

"I would like to thank them for their patience and courage throughout the course of the investigation and court proceedings. I hope they find some comfort from today's outcome, knowing the man responsible is being punished.

"No argument - no matter how big or small - is worth a life without a loved one. Choices Bangura made that night left Eddie's three daughters without their dad."
