East Coast Pride organisers said there is demand for the march in Skegness

A Pride event is to be held in Skegness for the first time, organisers have announced.

A spokesperson for East Coast Pride said the free event on 7 September 2024, to be called "One Love by the Seaside", will include entertainment.

The event will provide a safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, organisers said.

The group hopes it will become an annual occurrence.

Matt Dickinson, the event's producer, said: "The aim is to bring love and acceptance in a celebratory way to the coast.

"It stands for love, respect, and unity" and would give a voice to people who are not seen and may feel alone, Mr Dickinson said.

Nearby Mablethorpe started its own Pride event in 2022.

And last summer Scunthorpe held its first Pride.

The team behind the new event said that early levels of support showed that it was needed in Skegness.
