A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman found stabbed in Hull, Humberside Police said.
Officers were called to Hinderwell Street, off Princes Avenue at around 03:00 GMT on Friday.
The woman was taken to hospital where she died from her injuries a short while later.
The force said the 28-year-old suspect fled the scene, but was quickly located and arrested and remains in custody.
Supt Al Curtis appealed for information, as well as any dashcam or CCTV footage.
'Shock and concern'
"I understand that an incident like this will cause shock and concern amongst the community," he said.
"I would like to offer some reassurance that this is believed to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other with no wider risk to members of the public.
"A scene guard remains in place whilst our investigation continues, and those living in the area can expect to see an increased number of officers over the coming days, conducting patrols and speaking with local residents.
"If anyone has any concerns at all, please do come and speak to our officers."
