Immingham: Man, 19, dies after being hit by van

The pedestrian was hit by a van on Tuesday evening, police say

A 19-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a van in has died, police said.

The crash, involving a white VW van, happened on Habrough Road in Immingham, between Brocklesby Avenue and Calder Close, at about 20:50 GMT on Tuesday.

Humberside Police said the victim, who has not yet publicly been named, died from his injuries on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Daniel Johnsen appeared at Grimsby Magistrates' Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. No pleas were taken.

The 34-year-old, of Ashtree Close, Immingham, will appear before Grimsby Crown Court on 4 March.

Meanwhile, Humberside Police said it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Witnesses are still being sought, the force said.
