Overnight bridge closure in Hull for low-carbon heating project
- Published
Drivers will experience an overnight closure of Drypool Bridge in Hull arising from a low-carbon energy project.
The bridge will be closed between 20:00 GMT on 23 February to 06:00 GMT on 24 February.
An asbestos survey will be carried out for the Hull District Heat Network project, external.
The work will be completed by design consultants Arup and a diversion will be in place for motorists.
Hull City Council is urging people to plan the detail of their journeys in advance during this time.
A pedestrian route will remain in place with a diversion route via Lowgate, Wilberforce Drive, George Street, Witham, Clarence Street, and Great Union Street for drivers and cyclists.
The project will eventually provide low-cost, low-carbon energy to city centre buildings via a network of pipes carrying heat between them.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council, said it is "essential" the whole bridge closes during the inspections.
The council also thanked the public for its patience and understanding and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
