Three roadside areas in Lincolnshire will be upgraded for lorry drivers as part of a £16m investment in England.

Immingham Lorry Park, Cutts Transport in Lincoln and Stallingborough Truck Park in Grimsby are included in the 38 truck stops to receive funding.

Lorry drivers will benefit from new showers and restaurants, as well as better lighting and secure fencing.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has invested £6m with £10.5m coming from the haulage industry.

Immingham Lorry Park will see a £58,869 investment for parking, Cutts Transport will see £58,750 towards welfare, and Stallingborough Truck Park will see £380,000 towards welfare and security.

The scheme has taken note from The National Survey on Lorry Parking 2022, which details evidence on what improvements are needed for roadside infrastructure.

Around 430 new parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) across the 38 truck stops will also be created to free up local roads.

Roads Minister Guy Opperman said: "Our lorry drivers are the backbone of a successful economy, ensuring food, goods and crucial medical supplies can get where they need to be, all over the country.

"That's why it's only right we leave no stone unturned when it comes to supporting our lorry drivers as part of our plan to grow the economy."

The measures come after £15m in funding from a joint government and industry scheme which was announced in September 2023 for similar improvements.
