Goole: Man charged with attempted murder of woman 'in axe attack'

A man has appeared in court after a woman was left with life-threatening injuries in an alleged assault.

Police were called to Boothferry Road, Goole, at about 17:30 BST on Wednesday after reports of the woman being attacked with an axe.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition, Humberside Police said.

Anthony McDonald, 56, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.

Mr McDonald, of Ascot Avenue, Cantley, Doncaster, was remanded in custody by magistrates in Hull on Friday.
