Young's Seafood: Plans lodged to demolish Marsden Road factory in Grimsby
- Published
Demolition works are proposed at a former seafood factory in Grimsby.
The Young's Seafood site in Marsden Road closed in the autumn. Buildings set to go include the defrosting hall, offices and chillers.
Hundreds of jobs were lost as the company was unable to find a way to keep operations at the site going.
The company's remaining processing was moved to its Humberstone Road facility, as well as another site in Scotland.
According to an application submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council, the demolition would follow the site's end of lease terms. The area has to be restored back to its original form.
If approved, demolition would begin in June. Young's said the work would take three months to complete.
Young's continues to have significant presence in Grimsby. It operates South Quay, and more sites on the port estate, as well as its Humberstone Road facility.
