Drivers in West Sussex asked to report potholes

West Sussex County Council has spent £15m on repairing potholes during this financial year

Drivers in West Sussex are being urged to report potholes to the county council after the recent icy weather.

The authority is asking drivers to keep a look out for the potential hazards so that roads across the county can be kept in "the best condition possible".

Deputy leader Lionel Barnard said despite investing £15m in permanent road repairs this financial year, it was inevitable they would appear.

He said he hoped the investment would have made the roads "more resilient".

The council used more than 25,500 tonnes of chippings, 3,000 tonnes of bitumen and 35,000 tonnes of new tarmac to improve the condition of roads this year.
