Eight Kent officers are preparing to walk the Three Peaks for the charity of Pc David Rathband, who completed the London Marathon on Sunday.
Pc Rathband set up his charity for officers injured on duty after he was blinded by gunman Raoul Moat.
The officers from Kent Police's tactical operations group are aiming to climb Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis within 24 hours.
"We are all inspired by Pc Rathband's bravery," said Pc Gary Craig.
He added: "If we can make a difference to just one person's quality of life we will be happy."
The officers will be carrying 15kg bags up all three peaks.
The 24-hour challenge will include about 10 hours of driving between each of the peaks, leaving only 14 hours for climbing. It will start at 0800 BST on 27 June.
"As part of the build-up, some of us are running half marathons, full marathons and completing triathlons in our own time, as well as doing plenty of hill walking, to ensure we are fit and well prepared for the challenge," said Pc Craig.
