Medway MP is 'inundated' with complaints about 11-plus

A Medway MP has been "inundated" with letters from parents complaining about the way the 11-plus test was conducted.
Rehman Chishti, MP for Gillingham and Rainham, is now asking Medway Council to investigate the issue.
Parents are saying that Saturday's tests over-ran because of delays in registering pupils and that children did not have access to enough water.
The complaints relate to test centres at Rainham School for Girls and at Chatham Grammar School for Boys.
Under the current system, primary school pupils are sent to nearby secondary schools to sit the test.
Conservative MP Mr Chishti said: "I have asked Medway Council to fully investigate the matter and to ensure that no pupil was disadvantaged as a result.
"I do not understand why pupils are not allowed to sit the test at their own schools, in familiar surroundings."
A spokesman for Medway Council said: "While we are sorry for the issues experienced on Saturday, all children taking the test had the correct amount of time for each paper, with all their planned breaks to ensure they were not disadvantaged in any way.
"If a child had good reason for not completing the test in the available time, we will normally, in most cases, make arrangements for them to take the test at a later date."
