A new store in Ashford which could create 160 jobs has been granted planning permission.
John Lewis will invest £7m in their 5,390 sq m (58,000 sq ft) home furnishings store on Fougeres Way.
Under the terms of the permission, the company must submit further landscaping plans for the finished site.
Ashford Borough Council said the John Lewis's investment showed the level of confidence companies had in the "vibrant, prosperous town".
The application will now be referred to the Secretary of State for final approval.
The plans include 31 cycle spaces and parking for 199 cars and the store is due to open in the autumn of 2012.
