A winemaker in Kent has announced plans to expand, with the creation of 40 jobs over the next four years.

Chapel Down Wines, based in Tenterden, raised a £4.3m investment through equity funding.

The company wants to plant new vineyards in Kent, Sussex and Essex to produce more of its still and sparkling wines.

It is also searching for a location in Kent to build a new brewery for its Curious range of beers.

The company, which supplies UK-based retailers including Waitrose, Morrisons, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, has also begun exporting wine and beer to countries including Japan, Finland, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Canada and France.
