Flood fairs for at risk homeowners in Kent
- Published
Two events are being held in Kent to offer flood protection advice for people whose homes may be at risk.
The free flood fairs are being held in East Peckham on Saturday and in Hildenborough on 12 April by the National Flood Forum.
They were two of the places badly hit by the winter storms which saw more than 600 homes flooded in the county.
Flood protection equipment will be on display and information on how to apply for government grants of up to £5,000.
'Repairing homes'
The money is being offered under the Repair and Renew Grant Scheme.
Representatives from the Environment Agency, Kent County Council, Southern Water, Public Health England and Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council will be at the event.
Nicolas Heslop, leader of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, said: "Repairing homes as quickly as possible and making them more resilient to flooding in future is key to helping people recover from the disruption caused by the floods this winter."
Other places hit by flooding in Kent included Yalding, Maidstone, Edenbridge and Tonbridge.
