Dover berth demolition marks regeneration 'catalyst'

The work is described as a "significant milestone" in the port's regeneration

The old Seacat berth at the Port of Dover has begun to be demolished in what is described as the first stage of a project that will be "a catalyst for the regeneration of Dover".

The port said the work, at the former hovercraft berth, marks the start of the multi-million pound Dover Western Docks Revival project.

A new cargo terminal will be built at the site in the next few years.

The demolition is due to be completed by the end of the year.

Tim Waggott, the port's chief executive, said: "This is a significant milestone as we continue regenerating the port."
