A woman has reported being raped at the University of Kent campus in Canterbury in the early hours of Friday morning.

Kent Police said the "distressing and heinous" attack in University Road, Canterbury, was reported at 03:40 BST on Friday.

The force said the suspect was a white man in his 20s or 30s, with very short, blonde hair and dark clothing.

Det Ch Insp Nick Gossett said the "number one priority" was ensuring the victim received care and support.

"If anyone believes they saw this man, or thinks they have information that can assist us with this case, I would encourage them to get in contact with us as soon as possible," he added.

The University of Kent said it was offering support for any members of the university affected by the incident.
