Janet Moore died in hospital nearly a week after she was hit by a car

A woman's death nearly a week after she was hit by a car is being treated as murder after police said it was clear it was not an accident.

Janet Moore, 54, from Esher, was found seriously injured in West Molesey but died six days later in hospital.

Police had received reports of shouting and a car making off at speed.

Det Ch Insp Jo Hayes said: "It is clear from the early stages of the investigation that this wasn't an accident."

She said: "We are treating this incident extremely seriously and will leave no stone unturned in our investigation into Janet's murder."

Ms Moore was found in The Hurst Pool car park

Officers found Ms Moore, from Farm Road, in the Hurst Pool car park after they were called to Dunstall Way at about 04:20 GMT on 26 November.

She was taken to hospital by air ambulance but died on Saturday.

Her family have been informed.
