Channel people smuggler jailed after being filmed by drone

A people smuggler has been jailed after a government drone filmed him piloting a small boat full of migrants across the English Channel.

Rebwar Ahmed, 36, from Iraq, was sentenced to two years and seven months for assisting unlawful immigration into the UK.

The drone filmed him steering a small boat loaded with 20 other people from France to the UK in July 2020.
