'Unpaid carers are just not heard'

A Kent woman has gone from being a senior police officer to struggling to make ends meet living on Universal Credit while being an unpaid carer.

Lynne Bardell, from Margate, told how she struggled to cope after giving up her career with the Metropolitan Police to look after her mother who has dementia.

She said: "It is humiliating to go from the one that had the money to not being able to even cover your own expenses."
