A new leaseholder is being sought for an historic Victorian house in east Kent.

Thanet District Council wants a new operator for Grade II listed Northdown House in Margate, which was previously used as a wedding venue and a school.

The council said the building must be used for leisure and educational purposes.

A spokesman said it's aim was to "ensure continuity, avoiding any period of vacancy".

It is believed Northdown House dates from about 1850.

Councillor Ruth Duckworth said: "Northdown House is a beautiful building, set in picturesque grounds."
