People in Paddock Wood, Kent, are being invited to hear about works to install a new drinking water main in the town.

Work was completed in Mascalls Court Road last year, with the next stage due to take place in the school holidays.

South East Water said the improvements would help reduce the risk of low water pressure.

A drop-in session to preview the project will be held in Paddock Wood Community Centre on 7 February.

The next stage, in Gedges Hill and Chantler's Hill, will be carried out during the Easter and summer school holidays.

The area has seen extensive housing development in recent years.

Jeremy Dufour, project manager for South East Water, said: "We know that as the community grows, demand for water naturally increases and this could result in low pressure across the area."

"By laying this new pipeline, we're ensuring that supply and pressure can be maintained and all customers can continue to enjoy top quality drinking water."

The first phase of work begins on 28 March and will last for two weeks, with the second phase starting on 23 July and lasting six weeks.

The drop-in session will run from 15:30 to 19:00 GMT.
