Fallen trees have closed a road in Folkestone.

Kent Police and Kent County Council (KCC) were informed of the blockage across the Road of Remembrance at 02:00 GMT on Saturday.

KCC Highways said the road has been closed to allow tree surgeons to work on site.

The authority added that the road would remain closed "for the time being" for public safety and there was "no timeframe" for reopening.

In a statement KCC said: "We are liaising with colleagues at Folkestone and Hythe District Council and are assessing and monitoring the site."
