The Environment Agency has received 35 reports

Work is under way at Kent's River Stour after an oil leak with people urged to report sightings of the pollution.

The Environment Agency (EA) said on Saturday officers located the source of the oil leak, and were investigating evidence of harm to the environment.

It also says most of the oil leak has been contained using booms and pads.

"Some oil is currently visible along a 5km (3.1 miles) stretch of the River Stour and near Canterbury city centre," it added.

A spokesman for the EA said: "We have received a total of 35 reports on this in the last 24 hours.

"Our officers are continuing to work with the onsite contractors and investigate evidence of harm to the environment. We have received reports of one dead bird and one dead fish.

"We ask that the public continue to report sightings of oil on the river."
