Shorne: Arrest after pedestrian in his 80s dies in crash

Police say the area around Forge Lane had been closed while investigations continued

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian in his 80s was killed when he was struck by a car, Kent Police say.

The fatal collision happened on the A226 on Gravesend Road in Shorne, near Gravesend at just before 11:00 GMT.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed, the force added.

A man from Higham has been arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive and causing death by careless driving.

A police spokesman said the area around Forge Lane had been closed while investigations continued.
