Thousands of pigeon fanciers are flocking to Blackpool this weekend as the resort hosts the 39th British Homing World Show of the Year.

The event is the 39th annual conference of the Royal Pigeon Racing Association, taking place at the Winter Gardens.

More than 20,000 people are expected to see over 1,000 fancy pigeons and 3,000 racing pigeons.

The show is one of the largest in the world and all profits made are donated to various charities.

Known as the "Crufts of the pigeon world", all entrants are in with a chance of winning Best In Show with the winner going on to the Supreme Champion class.
