A revamped tourist attraction is officially opening in Blackpool later, as part of a £10m regeneration of the resort's tower and promenade.

Madame Tussauds, with waxworks of Susan Boyle, David Beckham and Bruce Forsyth, will be the first in the UK outside of London.

It replaces the resort's previous waxworks attraction, Louis Tussauds.

Blackpool Council and entertainment company Merlin have joined together in a bid to rejuvenate the resort.

The tower is being refurbished and visitors will be able to visit the common areas for free.

In September, the tower top observation platform will reopen as the Blackpool Tower Eye.

The Blackpool Tower Dungeon will also open, with exhibits including details of the Pendle Witch trials.

The Tower Ballroom roof is also due to be fully restored by the autumn.
