Keith Lemon, alter-ego of comedian Leigh Francis, will turn on Blackpool Illuminations on Friday 2 September.

He will be joined by singers including Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Olly Murs, Scouting For Girls and Beverley Knight.

The Illuminations, which cost £2.4m to stage, attract more than three million visitors to the resort every year.

Last year's switch-on ceremony drew record crowds, with over 20,000 people watching on big screens on the resort's promenade.

Councillor Graham Cain, Blackpool Council's cabinet member for tourism and culture, said: "This is going to be an incredible night and a wonderful start to what promises to be a bumper Blackpool Illuminations."

The lights will shine nightly until Sunday 6 November.
