Lancashire Enterprise Partnership announces £7m funding

Government investment of £7m in projects to promote economic recovery in Lancashire has been announced.

The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has allocated funding to three priority schemes in the county.

Luneside East in Lancaster, Burnley Bridge Business Park and Edge Hill University will all receive investment for infrastructure development.

LEP was set up in April 2011 as a public and private sector partnership to promote investment and job creation.

The funding is from an allocation of £13m for Lancashire from the government's Growing Places Fund.

The Luneside East development of shops, offices, homes and leisure facilities in St George's Quay, Lancaster will get £4m in funding for site preparation.

Burnley Bridge Business Park is to receive £2m for highway access and infrastructure.

Edge Hill University in Ormskirk has been given £1m to support the university's expansion through access improvements.
