Blackpool Illuminations' organisers are offering the public the chance to be part of the display.

People are being invited to buy a place for their image in a new Centenary Heads section of the lights.

Two hundred and ten places for the 0.5m sq (1.64ft sq) portraits, which will have a pop art style, are available.

Manager Richard Ryan said it was "important to let people really feel they are part of the light show", which celebrates its centenary this year.

Blackpool Illuminations, which attracts around 3m visitors to the town, are lit from 31 August to 4 November.

The Centenary Heads section follows on from a Famous Heads section, which featured in the 2011 display.

The Famous Heads lights included pictures of comedian Keith Lemon, singer Dame Shirley Bassey and entertainer Ken Dodd.

The Centenary Heads section will be located on the cliffs at the north end of the five mile display.

Inclusion in the section will cost £100.
