More than 100 racing pigeons have died in a fire in pigeon lofts at an allotment in Lancashire.

The blaze broke out at four pigeon lofts on Manor Street, Nelson, at 23:30 BST on Thursday.

It spread to a shed containing three ducks, three hens and a cockerel, which also died, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Officials said they suspected the fire was started deliberately. Police and fire teams are investigating.

Firefighters said two crews spent about an hour tackling the blaze.
