CCTV footage shows an attack on alpacas in a nursing home grounds

CCTV footage has been released showing two men hurling a wooden bench and plastic chairs at a pair of alpacas.

Officers said the men entered the grounds of Danesmoor Nursing Home in Haslingden, Lancashire, on Tuesday night.

The men are seen on CCTV throwing items at the alpacas - named Bill and Ben - and chasing them round the paddock.

Lancashire Police said both animals have since been checked by a vet and "given a clean bill of health".

PC Claire Scott said: "This unprovoked and mindless attack on two defenceless animals is a disgrace and we will do all we can to identify these men.

"Bill and Ben are there for the elderly residents to enjoy and this sort of behaviour is simply intolerable."

The alpacas are brothers and have lived at the home for five years, the force added.
