Lancashire Police sacks couple for selling road crash data

A pair of married police officers have been sacked, external for selling details of road traffic accidents.
Nigel Mungur, 38, and his wife Nicola, 35, were dismissed after a Lancashire Police public disciplinary hearing.
Both officers admitted unlawfully accessing police computer records with the intent to sell the data at Chester Crown Court in November.
The couple were found guilty of gross misconduct at a hearing at Leyland Police Station on 7 March.
Supt Sam MacKenzie, head of professional standards, said the pair had "undermined" the force's work.
Apologising on behalf of the constabulary he said: "There is no place for conduct of this type within the police."
The hearing found the Mungurs breached standards of professional behaviour in several areas, including honesty and confidentiality.
Nigel Mungur admitted criminal charges of misconduct in public office, conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office, money laundering and unauthorised access to a computer.
His wife admitted a Data Protection Act offence.
They will be sentenced at a later date.
