A £31m town centre regeneration project, incorporating a new hotel and a tram station, has been approved by councillors.

The plan includes a tram stop outside Blackpool North railway station, which would connect visitors to the seafront.

It is the second phase of Blackpool's Talbot Gateway Central Business District scheme.

The initial project included refurbishing a car park and building a new office block and a supermarket.

This next development would make it more convenient for visitors to be able to get off the train, board a tram and reach the Pleasure Beach amusement park, Blackpool Tower and Sandcastle water park, the council said.
