Katie Kenyon: Man arrested after woman goes missing

Detectives have been given more time to question a man arrested over a missing woman who was last seen getting into a van three days ago.

The family of 33-year-old Katie Kenyon said they were "very worried" for her and officers said they were "extremely concerned" for her safety.

Ms Kenyon was last seen on Friday getting into a Ford Transit in Burnley.

Police said a man, 50, held on suspicion of kidnap, was believed to be "known" to her.

Detectives have been given another 36 hours to question the arrested man, who is from Burnley.

The force said Ms Kenyon was last seen leaving an address on Todmorden Road before getting into a silver van registered MT57 FLC at about 09:30 BST and travelling to the Bolton by Bowland area of north Lancashire.

An image of the silver van has been released by police as they appealed for anyone who had any information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

The force said it was working with mountain rescue teams to search an area of Gisburn Forest near Clitheroe, the location at which the van she got into was last sighted.

Det Supt Gary Brooks said it was "of grave concern" that Katie had not been seen since Friday.

'Out of character'

She is described as white, 5ft 9in, with shoulder length strawberry blond/ginger highlighted hair.

She was last seen wearing a blue shirt/jacket and white vest top, black leggings and flip flops.

Her family are "very worried" for her safety and said Ms Kenyon's disappearance was out of character for her.

In a Facebook post, her sister Sarah Kenyon wrote: "It is now a waiting game, we have done everything we can, searched everywhere, contacted everyone."

Det Ch Insp Al Davies, of Lancashire Police, said: "We continue to be extremely concerned about Katie and we have a large team who are working hard to try and find out what has happened to her.

"I am keeping an open mind about what has happened to her but my concern obviously grows as time goes by.

"I would appeal again to anyone who was in the Bolton by Bowland area on Friday and saw anything suspicious to get in touch, especially if they saw the silver van or Katie alone or in company.

"Please do speak to us even if you think the information you have may not be important."
