Daniel Allsop, 38, died two days after he was attacked in Blackpool

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man collapsed at the entrance of a Blackpool McDonald's.

Daniel Allsop was attacked and suffered blunt force trauma before collapsing at the Bank Hey Street branch at about 16:30 BST on Monday, Lancashire Police said.

The 38-year-old was taken to hospital where he died two days later, surrounded by family.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody.

According to post-mortem tests, the cause of Mr Allsop's death was blunt force trauma.

Det Con Insp Jill Johnston said: "We believe that Daniel was assaulted on Bethesda Road, in the middle of a busy town centre in the middle of the day.

"I would ask anyone who was in the area, maybe on foot or travelling in their vehicle or public transport, who saw anything - however inconsequential they may think it is - to make contact with us."

She described the attack as an "isolated incident".

Mr Allsop's family said they had "lost a son, dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin".

"He passed peacefully surrounded by his immediate family," they said.

"He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him."
