A learner driver has had their mobility scooter seized by police after being caught driving on two motorways.

Lancashire Police said the vehicle, which sported L plates, was spotted driving at about 30mph (50km/h) in the middle lane near junction 30 of the M6 at about 07:00 GMT on Sunday.

The force said it was then driven south on the M61 near Chorley.

It said officers pulled the driver over as they headed on to a nearby dual carriageway.

A force representative said the driver was spoken to, but not arrested, and their mobility scooter, which had a roof and storage box attached, was seized.
