A city and its suburbs have woken up to no water or low water pressure due to a burst mains pipe.
Residents in Preston and the surrounding PR1 and PR4 postcode areas have had water disruption since 04:00 GMT.
Water company United Utilities has apologised and said the cause of the problem had been identified.
Engineers are currently on site working on a burst pipe on Fisher Gate Hill.
The firm said: "Now that we've identified the cause of the problem, our team will assess the issue and start the repair work as soon as possible.
"Thank you for your patience."
Several schools in the affected areas have announced their closure today.
Penwortham Girls' High School said: "The school and the surrounding area has no water due to a water leak."
All Hallows Catholic High School, also in Penwortham, said: "The school is currently without water due to a burst water main. The majority of Penwortham is also without water and therefore we have made the decision to close the school."
