Indie band The Courteeners have been booked to headline Lancashire's Lytham Festival, which attracts more than 100,000 music fans.

The Manchester group will play on Friday night during the five-day event in the first week of July in Lytham Green on the banks of the Ribble Estuary.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday.

Past headliners have included Lionel Ritchie, Kylie Minogue, Diana Ross as well as Sting and Lewis Capaldi.

In a statement, The Courteeners said: "We are very much looking forward to making our debut and joining the illustrious list of acts that have performed at Lytham."

They added they went to the festival themselves last year to watch The Strokes and were "blown away by the buzz of the locals and the beauty of the scenery".
