A football fan suffered facial injuries after a flare was hurled in the away stand during a Lancashire derby, police said.
The Preston North End fan was hit by a flare thrown during her team's away game against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on 10 November.
She suffered a bruise and a burn to her face about 35 minutes into the match.
Lancashire Police said the flare was thrown from the upper tier of the Darwen End, just after Preston scored.
Officers urged anyone with information to come forward.
PC Dan Fish said: "This incident shows how dangerous it is to bring pyrotechnics into a football ground.
"I'd like to appeal to anyone who has mobile phone footage of the pyrotechnic being thrown from the upper tier of the stand or who witnessed it, to come forward," he added.
Liam Lindsay headed in a Preston winner in the 90th minute of the match, with the away side beating Blackburn 2-1.
