Plans for a £30m hotel on Blackpool Promenade have been submitted to the town's council for planning permission.

The proposed 143-bedroom four-star accommodation will be built on the site of the former St Chad's Hotel.

Singapore-based Fragrance Group, which owns The Imperial Hotel and The Lyndene Hotel in the resort, said the building would be a "new landmark".

Proposals to redevelop the site were first revealed in the summer, when a public consultation was held.

The number of rooms were cut back from the initially proposed 184 to 143, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The proposed six-storey site will be designed in the Art Deco style, inspired by the resort's landscape and history.

It will include a ground floor restaurant, meeting rooms and a car park.

Land in front of the hotel has been earmarked for an art zone that will also showcase work by local creatives.

Closed in 2021, St Chad's Hotel was bulldozed in May, along with the Lyric Hotel, Regency Apartments and the Seaside Fish and Chip Shop to make way for redevelopment.
