Four teenagers and a woman have been seriously hurt after the car they were in hit a wall on Christmas Day, police have said.

Three boys, aged 13, 15 and 17, were among those taken to hospital after a Mercedes CLA 220 crashed in Common Edge Road, Blackpool at about 22:30 GMT.

A girl, 17, and a woman in her 30s were also hurt. Lancashire Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.

The 42-year-old, who is from St Annes, was also detained for failing to provide a specimen for analysis and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
