Lancashire Police officers had been called to reports of an assault in Hargher Clough Park

A boy has been stabbed in the head near a park, police have said.

Lancashire Police said the 16-year-old suffered a minor injury in the attack on Hargher Street, Burnley, at about 13:50 GMT on Saturday.

It said officers had been called to nearby Hargher Clough Park.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted wounding with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and is due to appear before magistrates later.
