A man who taunted a group of Manchester United fans about the Munich air disaster has been banned from matches for five years.

Billy Rambadt, 27, was outside a pub in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, at about 17:30 BST on 23 September when he shouted about the 1958 air crash.

He was identified after being captured on a police bodycam and charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, police said.

He was also fined £500.

Rambadt, of Athletic Street, Burnley, was convicted at Blackburn Magistrates' Court.

Supt Melita Worswick, from Lancashire Police, said: "Rambadt's conduct on that day was absolutely appalling and something that I know many people will find abhorrent.

"If you are not arrested at the time you commit an offence like this, be sure that we will be reviewing the evidence against you and you should expect a knock at the door."

Eight Manchester United footballers were among 23 people killed following the crash on 6 February 1958.
