Man admits murdering woman found dead in flat in Blackpool

A "dangerous and nasty" man has admitted murdering a woman who was found dead in a flat.

Alison Dodds, 51, was found with serious injuries at a flat on Redcar Road, Blackpool, shortly before 11:00 BST on 21 September, Lancashire Police said.

Alexander Hindley, of Redcar Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to murder at Preston Crown Court on Thursday.

The 35-year-old was remanded back into custody to be sentenced on 27 March.

Det Ch Insp Jane Webb said: "Hindley is a dangerous and nasty individual who reigned down the most appalling level of violence on Alison before her death.

"I welcome the guilty plea and it is a reflection of the overwhelming amount of evidence gathered against Hindley by our dedicated investigation team."
