Police who are trying to identify a man found dead have released images created by an artist of what he could have looked like when he was alive.

The man's body was found near Horrobin Lane, Rivington, on 7 December, Lancashire Police said.

The force thinks the man, aged between 40 and 50, was there for a short period of time before the discovery.

It said despite a number of inquiries and liaising with other forces officers had been unable to identify him.

Orange watch

The force hopes the two images, which were created by an artist to show what would best represent him when he was alive, will help the public to recognise him.

The man had a dark goatee-style beard, cropped, dark but slightly greying hair and was of medium to large build.

He was wearing a green Fox jacket, black Slazenger tracksuit bottoms and a white and grey SoulCal & Co T-shirt with green wellies and he was also wearing a distinctive orange Casio digital watch.

Police said a post-mortem examination did not identify the cause of death but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
