Fire crews investigate blaze at suspected Blackpool cannabis farm

Fire crews are investigating a large blaze at a suspected cannabis farm.

Eight fire engines plus the drone unit, aerial ladder platform and command unit have been out at the fire on Havelock Street in Blackpool.

The blaze caused a large smoke plume, with residents warned to keep windows and doors closed.

The incident happened at about 01:43 GMT, with road closures in place on Havelock Street and a section of Central Drive.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it is investigating the incident, with two fire engines and the aerial ladder platform remaining on scene.

In a post on X, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Central Drive from Chapel Street up to Bonny Street and the whole of Havelock Street are currently closed and will remain closed for some time."

A spokesperson added the building was "well alight" when they arrived.

Lancashire Police said: "There is some suggestion a cannabis farm has been found inside. Inquiries are ongoing. Nobody has been arrested at this time."
