Vintage tractor collection on auction near Preston
- Published
More than 60 vintage tractors are to go for auction in Lancashire.
The collection, which ranges from the 1950s to the 1990s, was owned by local firm Pete Marquis Contractors.
Oliver Godfrey, lead auctioneer at Cheffins, said the vehicles highlighted changes in farming machinery from "basic simple to more complicated electronic" vehicles.
The tractors are expected to sell individually for five-figure sums at the auction in Lea.
Pete Marquis Contractors, which was set up in 1991 when it initially worked with agricultural businesses around Preston, "bought things done" instead of works in progress, Mr Godfrey said.
He added that, while the collection's size may seem "slightly abnormal" to those outside the industry, it was not unusual for Cheffins to auction an average of 300 tractors in a month.
