Grace the Swan pedalo Sport Relief mission nears end

A marathon effort of pedalling a Swan-shaped pedalo the length of the Liverpool-Leeds canal to raise money for Sport Relief is almost at an end.

BBC Radio Leeds presenters Adam Pope and Katherine Hannah have raised more than £37,000 during the 10-day voyage on the so-called Grace the Swan.

The pair will finish their journey at Granary Wharf in Leeds on Friday evening at about 18:00 GMT.

Those wishing to donate can do so at the Sport Relief web page.

Mr Pope said the journey had been a tough task but he was just looking forward to crossing the finishing line.

He said: "From day one of accepting the challenge the only thing I've had in my mind was crossing the finishing line.

"When we went out training and did a little bit in Grace the Swan and it started sinking we saw that finishing line in a very bad light.

"But it's [the finishing line] remained in my mind."
