Morrisons to outsource Bradford headquarter jobs

Supermarket chain Morrisons has confirmed 165 jobs at its Bradford headquarters are to move to another firm.

The company said it was outsourcing its financial transaction processing services to an Indian firm, Wipro.

Wipro will retain 20 posts in the city but the remaining posts could move abroad, the firm added.

Morrisons said retraining and redeployment of staff in Bradford would be offered "where possible".

In a statement, the company said: "Morrisons works with many third party companies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of support functions. Wipro is one of these providers of outside expertise."

The firm added that consultation with staff about the changes was taking place.
