Ambulance officials are warning people to take extra care as West Yorkshire looks set to endure cold weather and some snowfall.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service said bad weather put an additional strain on its resources.

Spokesman David Williams said a deterioration in driving conditions meant crews were called to more road accidents.

Genuine emergencies should still prompt a call to the ambulance service.
